I was tapped to compose a fresh poem responding to Green Day's "Pulling Teeth," It was a fabulous night of readings at Mashed Poetics, Faust and Jules accompanied me to the Back Stage venue and for afters. I met up with Shoshanna Wiley, Kagan Goh, and many other much-admired friends/literati. I was blown away by the poets, and the band The Emerald Knights, the whole night. Lead singer of the band a transperson, who warmed my heart.
Responding to Green Day, Pulling Teeth
it's all my fault (x3)
cruelty among loved ones
bad dreams unfurling in real life
unintentional warfare
words wind together
tear us apart
limb by limb by limbo light
I'm currently reading poetry (jury duty) and looking forward to meeting up with The Writers Studio Poetry & Poetic Prose artists, 2023 in a few days.
