my perch

Main house from the smoking grove
nighttime greenhouse

I am living on Hornby Island, with two dear friends since the 80s, Nym Hughes and Sarah Davidson, and a new friend, Iskut.

I have visited Hornby many times, when my sis lived here. One of my nextgen wrote a suite of poems about his time here as a worker/young adult.

After six weeks in the main house, I moved yesterday to the workshop, a mixed-use area that lacks nothing.

I arrived with a long to-do list, made my way to the halfway point, slowly progressing.

Elaine Savoie, Hornby Island Metis~ paperwork (part two)

Multidisciplinary artist Elaine Savoie of Hornby Island took part in a recent group show at the village hall. I loved the weaving of visual arts, family documents and photos, and poetry. All of the above works (and those in part one) are by Elaine Savoie; the chancy photography is my own.

My thanks to Elaine for allowing me to share her work beyond these island shores.
