This is not the first time I've lived in a rural environment without modern plumbing. My mind often returns to the family home in rural Manitoba, in the 70s, where we had a hand pump in the kitchen, and i learned the meaning behind the expression, "priming the pump." I didn't like the taste of the water there, but did enjoy bathing in it.
The water here is sweet and fine.
The island as a whole is in drought, so, we practise water conservation at every step.
Thinking about water reminds me of Michael D. Blackstock and his teachings,
Spirit
All of Mother Earth’s resources have a spirit, flowing across borders like water, uniting us all. When we treat these as mere commodities for consumption, we risk the health of our ecosystems, each other, and all living things.
